The 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition was the first non-mechanised crossing of Antarctica, from the Larsen Ice Shelf to the Soviet base at Mirnyy.
It was a 6000 km coast-to-coast journey in prohibitive temperatures, through crevasses, ice storms and wind gusts of over 120 km/h.
The team, made up of 6 explorers from 6 different countries, reached the arrival point on 3 March 1990, after 7 months of travel, completing a legendary achievement that captured the world's attention and reignited the debate on Antarctic climate change.
For the FW21 season, The North Face pays tribute to the heroic expedition with a icy-tones capsule inspired by the OG gear of the six international team members.
The iconic 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket, with 700g goose down filling, is an essential part of the collection.
Classic contrasting colour blocks, zip fastening, two zipped side pockets, inside breast pocket, fold-down hood in collar and embroidered logo on chest and back.
When the temperature rises, it can be folded and stored inside its own pocket.
