Focusing on its rugged, well-crafted and waterproof boots, in the 70's the company changed its name into Timberland and started to add casual and boat shoes to its boots product line. During the 1980s, the company expanded internationally – first into the Italian market (thanks to the "Paninari" youth movement in Milan who wore and launched the Timberland brand), and later to many other countries in Europe and beyond. While adding more and more product lines such as clothing and accessories, by the 90's Timberland boots became a new fashion icon through one of the most powerful subcultures of all time: Hip Hop. Today Timberland is a global company with several sub-brands and product lines, well known for the craftsmanship and durability of its goods.
