The american brand Santa Cruz was born under the California sun in 1973, devised by the lively minds of three surfers - Doug Haut, Jay Shuirman and Rich Novak - who had the ambition to make a job out of their common passion. Forty-three years later, we can quietly say they've gone far beyond their own expectations, creating one of the most innovative and appreciated skating brand of all time; the company, which now is entirely owned by Novak, has been able to stay up with times, establishing itself in the production of surfboards and skateboards. The Santa Cruz apparel, instead, features a strong visual identity, sticking out for brilliant and colorful graphics on T-shirts and sweatshirts, and the Santa Cruz logo turns out to be one of the most recognizable in the world; the artist Jim Philips had a key-role in defying the appearance of the Cali-based company throughout the years with his Screaming Hand, certainly the trademark of a label that has written pages and pages of the skating world history, comparable with giants like Vans or Thrasher.
