RIP N DIP
Rip N Dip is a streetwear brand founded in 2009 by skater Ryan O'Connor. The story of the brand is the embodiment of classic American motto "Started From the Bottom": after moving from Orlando to Los Angeles, O'Connor decided to make some t-shirts for friends and skaters, who started to wear them during sessions in the street and in the videos; shortly after, the low-profile, crazy and ironic graphics, combined with the flair of the skate crew, begin to generate interest around the brand even outside the skate scene, and so O'Connor decided to create a brand. Quickly Rip N Dip signature aliens and kittens aesthetic became a new underground phenomenon, first in California and then, thanks to the continuous exposure and skate videos listed on magazines like Thrasher, the brand became recognizable all over the world. From t-shirts and sweatshirts, soon the collection was expanded with skateboard decks, hats, socks and accessories, and within a couple of seasons also came the first collaborations with artists, skaters and other streetwear brands. In recent years the kitty design with the middle finger raised has become one of the most returning subjects between selfie and photos on Instagram and social networks, and the kitten, or rather Lord Nermal, became one of the most quoted characters in streetwear and beyond.
