Reebok

In 1890, the J.W. Foster & Sons was one of the first company ever to craft running shoes equipped with spikes, but it definitely break through in 1958, after merging with Reebok: the Boston-based brand gained a resounding success as fast as the African antelope it's named after, skipping steps and introducing always new technologies. Reebok Freestyle ruled the early '80s, reign of aerobic and fitness: over the next few years, it dealt with other fields, building the very first feeling with tennis and basketball. Changing Reebok logo in 1986 - a sleeker, plainer design instead of the Union Jack flag - was just the first step of a deep restyling: Reebok became the favorite of popular athletes like Venus Williams, Ryan Giggs and Shawn Kemp, a sort of casual, versatile alternative to outdated sport kicks. Debuting in 1983, Classic Leather reshaped everyone's perception of lifestyle sneakers by meeting the trends of time: this nimble silhouette pays homage to tennis shoes, adding a leather upper provided with minimal details placed upon and elastic structure. A benchmark for casual trainers, followed just few years later by Reebok Club C 85 - tennis sneakers shifted from sport tools to everyday essentials. launching the Pump technology on the namesake sneakers was a real bolt from the blue, given also the amazing performance of Dee Brown at the NBA Slam Dunk contest: conceived by Paul Litchfield, Reebok Pump were supplied with a special button on the tongue to inflate and deflate at will - the gauntlet to Nike Air has been thrown. Shaquille O'Neal's Shaq Attaq and Reebok Question, designed exclusively for "The Answer" Allen Iverson, were two further key points to show the whole world that Reebok was here to stay: the American company patented the Sole-Trainer technology, forerunner of the Hexalite, the honeycomb-shaped cushioning system installed in all the latest Reebok sneakers. During the same period, Reebok Ventilator became the first running sneakers with ventilated side paneling improving breathability, a flawless hybrid between performance and lifestyle.  In 1994 Reebok said bye-bye to laces and most of side panels: Instampump Fury shocked the footwear market with a seamless silhouette, devoid of any superfluous element : it's composed of upper, featherweight Graphlite sole and an air bladder on the tongue. A century of success behind, but an entire history still to be written: join the Reebok mentality!
