Pop Trading Company is an Amsterdam-based skater-owned label, founded in 2013 by Peter Kolks and Ric van Rest. At the newly opened shop, Kolks expanded the catalog to streetwear institutions not commonly stocked at skate shops, like A.P.C., alongside the skateboard-aimed limited editions from Vans. Frisco became a pivotal place for the local skateboarding scene, embracing the always-increasing international connections with brands and skaters, and bonding with upcoming realities like Palace, Magenta, and Polar Skate institutionalizing itself as a distributor. The distribution background, even if the company has gone through a rough patch, is witnessed by the expression Trading Company in the name, ever since the brand debuted with its first collection in 2015. In those years the skateboard scene overflowed to Europe, dislocating attention from the celebrated skateboard capitals overseas, and creating a fertile environment for European brands to face the international market. After nearly ten years, POP is now delivering a fine selection of lifestyle garments, led by boxy short sleeve t-shirts paired with Made in Europe sweaters, extending its collection to waterproof jackets alongside timeless pieces like work jackets and satin varsities.
