What's special it the Air Unit, split into four air chambers with dual pressure, hence the nickname Air Max "Squared". But it was all thanks to the upper that Air Technology managed to shine. The multi-layer mesh, suede and leather construction was good for extreme colorways, usually enriched by reflecting heel details and by the custom logo of the silhouette.
