Nineties have been the golden age of trainers, a decade of success during which popular brands fought each other patenting stunning technologies and featherweight textures to improve sneakers everyday use. Just as long as Nike decided to join the game, setting aside aesthetic ambitions to completely focus on technical features: the designer Toren Orzeck, chief at the Sports Research Lab of Portland, starts from a careful anatomical study on the foot shape, aiming to realize the perfect silhouette. Air Footscape were officially born in 1996, featuring an upper that is part suede and part mesh, including a heel reinforce and a lightweight Phylon midsole.
